John concocted his spicy, twisted CheeseSticks during a ten-year catering career which started on Martha's Vineyard, migrated west to California and ultimately led him to New York City. It was there, in 1984 in John's loft apartment kitchen, that he perfected his original recipe. In 1985 John opened a small store-front "factory" on New York's lower East Side. In 1990 the Company moved to its present plant in Elmwood Park, NJ.
